Where high, compact current & fast response really make a difference

ASM works with customers to identify applications that justify the added complexity of superconducting equipment. Each project begins with a real duty cycle, a system boundary, and a measurable comparison to conventional alternatives.

Tell us the power level, duration, operating environment, installation constraints, and baseline equipment. We can then identify the measurements that would determine whether an HTS approach deserves the next investment.

Defense and High Field Systems

Dense electrical distribution is becoming harder to plan as campus loads rise. A superconducting link may reduce conductor space and resistive losses within a defined section. A 2 to 5 MW pilot would test interfaces and operations; full assessment includes cooling, uptime, protection, maintenance, and total cost.

High current corridors and constrained substations may benefit from compact transmission. Rapid response storage could support selected power quality or ride through needs. Adoption requires site specific modeling, protection coordination, safety review, permitting, and a clear economic case.

Naval power systems, high field magnets, and compact machinery can place a premium on power density, mass, and dynamic response. ASM is exploring how qualified conductor supply and system design can meet these requirements with mission relevant testing.
